The Tillandsia balbisiana has leaves that are rather thin and of a pale green color mixed with subtle hints of silver. While the plant is still quite young and its leaves not so long, the blades curve towards different directions, some even stay upright. But, as the plant ages and as its leaves start to elongate, the blades tend to droop downwards and the tips curl inward towards the plant’s light brown base. A large space in the center is then created for the towering inflorescence to emerge. The said inflorescence has a spike that is a deep shade of red, where lavender-colored flowers bloom. The inflorescence remains upright and stands out amongst the droopy leaves, giving the plant a very gracefully formed structure. This piece is perfect for those who would like something that looks quite fancy and can be the center of attention.
